Tired of Trying?

“At 211 degrees, water is hot. At 212 degrees, it boils. And with boiling water, comes steam. And with steam, you can power a train.”

S.L. Parker – Author

Have you ever felt like you are going in circles? It doesn’t matter what you do or how you do it; nothing seems to move in with the direction you expected. We do the right things and follow the steps we know that will achieve the results we want, but nothing ever happens.

Time after time we put ourselves in positions where we should see the results we want in our life, but yet nothing seems to change. The more we try and the harder we work the more it seems that others advance ahead of us.

Noticeably, there are some who don’t do what we do or work as hard as we do. They don’t go the extra mile and yet it seems that they carry all the momentum. It’s as if everything seems to go undeservingly well for them.

We know that hard work brings results. We know that consistency, dedication and determination compiled together build up momentum that is a force to be reckoned with once it breaks the threshold from standing still into movement.

Nothing will ever move or change its current state until opposite force is applied. What was at rest will in fact begin to move according to Issac Newton. Water at 211°F is simply hot water, but water at 212°F water begins to boil.

38years an invalid man would sit and wait in a place where he expected his healing miracle to arrive. He showed up everyday, he waited patiently for the precise moment. He followed all the protocols to receive his miracle, but somehow he would always fall short. “A day late and dollar short” some would say today.

Everyone around him would always be one step ahead of him, rushing to touch the pool’s water first after the Angel did receiving their miracle and once again he came up empty. He never gave up or stopped showing up. He repeated the process and followed the cultural instructions for 38 years.

Until one day he broke the threshold when he met Jesus. Knowing the man’s condition he asked him if he wanted to get well. The only thing he could do was file his complaint about how everyone else around him would rush in before him. Jesus healed him through the command of his word in that very instant.

Small changes rarely seem logical, but overtime that one small change makes all the difference. One degree will alter the state of water. One degree off course is enough to alter the direction of an aircraft over the length of its flight.

If you have not seen results yet, keep working through. Keep compounding  the elements to build up enough force to break the threshold of where you are to where to want to be. If you quit, you may be quitting too soon.

You don’t know if all you need is one more degree to alter the entire outcome. It depends on you, “Do you want to get well?”

When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

John 5:6
